It’s the dog days of summer in North Carolina, and it’s unbearably hot and humid. And it’s another month of major changes.

Phew, here’s August:

• The deck is finally done — yes! Only 3+ months late. What a painful process 😞
• The teenager in the house goes to college — it’s strangely quiet in the house now. But we’ll visit the teenager on a regular basis so that she doesn’t forget about “the old folks back at home.”
• Projects at work are moving forward slowly — vacation schedules make scheduling anything complicated.

Short version: August — dog days of summer. The deck is finally done, but the yard is still a mess. No travel this month, and the teenager is off to college.
